TRC America Demolition Services was
called to remove and dismantle this 850 MVA Trafco-Union transformer for
forensic teardown from an active 230 KV substation . The first step in
the removal of this unit was to jack and move this approximately
1,000,000 pound transformer from inside a sound containment structure,
approximately 200 feet outside the substation to begin the dismantlement
process. The conservator tank and bushings were then removed and the
process of opening the unit began. TRC America Demolition Services personnel worked in conjunction
with Utility and Insurance personnel to locate and determine the cause
of the failure. Once the failure was determined, our personnel continued
the dismantlement process, loaded out all material and did site work to
ensure the area was ready for the replacement transfomer.
TRC America Demolition Services personnel have been
specially trained in the process of transformer dismantlement. Every
employee attends local utility training seminars to be qualified in
detecting the hazards of live substation work. TRC America Demolition Services ensures personnel are
trained and use all necessary safety equipment particular to the job
assignment.
During the
dismantlement process all necessary precautions are taken to ensure that
there is no environmental impact due to oil spills. Absorbent pads,
barriers and containment systems are used throughout the oil removal and
transformer dismantlement. We supply our customers with all necessary
manifests and test results for all oil disposed of.
Due to our
extensive contacts both here and abroad, TRC America Demolition Services is able to
guarantee our customers excellent returns for their assets and ensure
that we meet or exceed our goal of 90%+ recycling/reuse of all
materials.
